Poverty and Peace

poverty generates hostility and anger, and […] peace is impossible where poverty exists.

Let’s just repeat Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammed Yunus’ words for emphasis, shall we?

poverty generates hostility and anger, and […] peace is impossible where poverty exists

People who know that they can feed/educate their families and feel that they are performing useful work tend to be much less interested in joining gangs/militias/insurrectionists and fucking other people’s shit up. Why does the cult of economic rationalism and its acolytes in elected office largely refuse to recognise this simple truth?

  1. Because they make lots and lots of money out of selling guns to the angry poor or the people who they are fighting. Just ask Halliburton – “we make money out of anarchy”
