“BLOW” energy drink mix comes as a white powder in a little vial. “Just add an entire vial of Blow Energy Drink Mix to your favourite beverage and enjoy with a friend!” enthuses the website, iloveblow.com [warning: music].

The powder contains caffeine, taurine, kola nut extract, and B vitamins. It comes packaged in a “brick” or “stash box” with a fake credit card, a mirror, and a whole lot of gleaming buttocks and come-hither looks. This is as try-hard as it gets.

Everyone is squealing with outrage about the drug mimicking (“OMG we’re fighting a WAR here!”), but no one seems to have noticed how sexist the marketing is. I suppose we should be used to that by now. A sampling below for those who don’t want to drive up their hits.

I don’t know why I’m still shocked by this stuff. Generally I’m not, but this caught me off guard. FFS.

I couldn’t get past their home page without taking a shower so I didn’t venture any further into the site.

I did notice the sexism but for some reason I was thinking, what do I expect from a guy who markets something like this anyway?

Ditto. Strong ‘eeew eeew eeew’ rage response – in a world of disgusting, this is especially disgusting. I’m just too tired of this kind of thing to even manage an articulate response today.

Theriomorph’s last blog post..I promised some full-on-bitter for Valentine’s – so, post ice-storm:

You are all just a bit crazy,
this is good marketing! thats all.

The man who made “Blow” is a smart man, he made a product that people would get mad about, people like “Lisa” who said “I couldn’t get past their home page without taking a shower”, people who say things like this are just playing in to what the manufacturer wants.

The sad thing for people that want this product off the market is that the manufacturers are doing nothing wrong!

As for the sexism, you all need to get over that too.
The models on that site got payed for doing what they did, and if thats what/how they wanted to make their money then that is their choice, you can’t run someone else’s life.

The first time I heard about this I thought it was a funny and good thinking on the part of the manufacturer, I knew they would make good money with this product.

If you don’t like this product, don’t buy it, if you don’t want you’re kids to have it, don’t let them, if you “need to take a shower” after looking at their website, DON’T GO TO IT!

I’m going to use my magical powers of deduction to guess that Devin is under 23, USAn, and his Favourite!Book!Evah! is Atlas Shrugged.

“Soooooo insightful”, he says in his college-application essay, puffing on a clove cigarette and brushing his emo-hair out of his eyes, “This book profoundly changed my life.”

HAHA nice guess but you’re off.

Thank you for that one “Lauredhel” I found it funny, I showed it to a friend and he thought it was funny too.

What I look like has nothing to do with the topic here, the topic is Blow energy mix, not my haircut or what kind of cigarettes I smoke, to come on here and try to make fun of the way someone looks and not say a word about the topic at hand is just ignorant.

If you want to talk about how you feel I am wrong about my stance on the subject of this “energy mix” feel free, but as for now all you are trying to do is turn a debate in to an argument.

What’s to rebut, Devin? You’re a baby-glibertarian who thinks feminists are “crazy” and should “get over” sexism. You really think that was going to turn into a productive, substantive, intellectual debate?

Really?

Devin:

to come on here and try to make fun of the way someone looks and not say a word about the topic at hand is just ignorant.

That seems to be most inconsistent with your own opening gambit:

You are all just a bit crazy

Sure, just looking for a good-faith debate you were, honest injun.
