Indexed, as always, has a clever take on the new Seven Deadly Sins announced by the Vatican this week. [The list used is a slight tweak on the list announced in the media, but the substance is the same.]
As you can see, a simple intersection of the new sins proves to us that the following are all mortal sins:
* Capitalism
* The War on Drugs
* Patenting cures
* The cost of Aricept
* Luxury rehab
* Mandatory sentences
* The West
* Exporting garbage to Michigan.
Won’t somebody notify the wingnuts?

Frankly, I don’t see what was wrong with the old ones. Pedophilia, surely, comes under lust; excessive wealth comes under greed and envy; pollution comes under greed and sloth; abortion (in their terms, anyway) comes under murder; stem ccell research comes under pride… I’m not sure why we need new ones, especially ones that seem so western-culture-specific.
