    I did wonder whether perhaps the flower was added in. I can totally believe the gymnastics.

    Part of the reaction of scepticism about the flower in this shot is that it’s almost impossible not to have a first response of anthopomorphising what we see, creating a social script that the hanging gerbil is offering the flower to the gerbil on the log. I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that most of us immediately assigned them genders as well (aww, look at the way he is offering that flower to her)

    If you just look at it as a shot of some gerbils mucking about gymnastically as they do, and happening to incorporate a flower into their scamperings, it’s not so hard to believe at all.

    Huh, I actually had not assigned gender. That is interesting. Slightly unrelated, but a lot of people actually assign default masculinity to non-humans, which usually drives me off my gourd.
