It’s not often that I applaud the actions of a brewery, but in this case Fosters deserves a mention for taking a principled stand against the antics of Ksubi, an Australian men’s fashion design house. Fosters were to have supplied free alcohol for the Ksubi party, held as part of the Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival. In order to get the free alcohol at the Ksubi party, you had to go topless. To reinforce the point the invite had a photo of a topless woman and the following text:
“Hey losers! Sick of those winter nights? We are! Like watching the opposite sex dancing with their tops off? We do! Come to our topless beach party,” the invite said.
“If you have your top on you will be paying for your drinks! … If you have your top off, you will be sweatin it out for free! All night long. All night.”
Fosters declined to be part of the Ksubi “chicks are just a means of transporting a pair of breasts for guys to ogle” party and refused to supply the alcohol. Now that’s responsible service of alcohol.
