It’s been a long time coming, but Strike Force Tarella has now accumulated enough evidence to arrest and charge ex-obstetrician and gynaecologist Graeme Reeves, dubbed the “Butcher of Bega”, on a number of violent offences against women. There were many more complaints, and the police continue to compile evidence.
Reeves engaged in years of malpractice and violations of Medical Board restrictions, and has been implicated in a series of deaths and mutilations of women under his care.
Former NSW doctor Graeme Reeves has been charged with 17 offences against patients on whom he operated.
Reeves, 58, has been charged with offences against 10 women, Detective Superintendent John Kerlatec told reporters today.
He was arrested at his home in the north-western Sydney suburb of Baulkham Hills at 6am today during an investigation into allegations of female genital mutilation, sexual assault, indecent assault, and grievous bodily harm.
This followed a police raid on a storage unit at Gladesville on Wednesday last week, when documents were seized for examination.
Let’s hope justice is done, and the victims can experience some sort of closure.
