Oh, they got “new teeth”. Cool.

“Go to your room. Go to your room! I mean it. I’m very, very angry with you. I’m very, very cross! Go to your room! [...] I’m really glad that worked. Those would have been terrible last words.”

  2. Beppie

Ha, yes, I agree, the whole “Go to your room” thing was just brilliant. I also like the one about how humans “dance” their way across the universe. :)

My favourite lines from New Who, however, are found in the Dalek-Cyberman Parley in the Series 2 finale.

    Daleks: Identify yourselves.
    Cybermen: You identify yourselves.
Daleks: Daleks do not take orders.
Cybermen: You have identified yourself as Daleks.

Cybermen: Our species are similar, though your design is inelegant.
Dalek: Daleks have no concept of elegance.
    Cybermen: This is obvious.

Cybermen: Daleks be warned. You have declared war against the Cybermen.
Daleks: This is not war. It is pest control.
Cybermen: We are five million Cybermen. How many are you?
    Daleks: Four.
Cybermen: You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?
Daleks: We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek. You are superior in only one respect.
    Cybermen: What is that?
Dalek: You are better at dying.

Having the backing track so loud you can’t hear the actual lines wasn’t very helpful, and they missed the Empty Child line “It’s brilliant – I’m not sure if it’s Marxism in action or a West End musical.”

  4. Purrdence

I agree with DEM – they should be severly chatised for that backing track – I only got to 17 before I got annoyed and gave up.

No time to watch, but if they don’t have the ‘he burns at the centre of time’ bit from Tim Latimer in FoB, I will cry.

    Hands Bene a tissue.

Many of my favourites, and a couple of other people’s, are found here. (Ignore the rest of the thread unless you’re a fan of the All Flesh Must Be Eaten roleplaying game).

A couple of special picks though…

PA: “The Mayor thanks you for stopping by. She’d love to chat, but she’s up to her eyes in paperwork.”
Doctor: “She’s climbing out of the window, isn’t she?”
    PA: “Yes she is.”

Dr Constantine: “Before this war started, I was a father and a grandfather. Now I’m neither, but I’m still a doctor.”
    Doctor: “I know the feeling.”

Martha: “A telepathic field binding the whole human race together, with all of them, every single person on Earth, thinking the same thing at the same time, and that word is ‘Doctor!’”

Dalek Caan: “I saw the Daleks. What we have done throughout time and space. I saw the truth of us, Creator, and I decreed, NO MORE.

I missed out the “burns at the centre of time” as well, which means perhaps we’ve proved that series is far too awesome for a couple of lists of 20 to cover.

I agree with tigtog. Not unexpected, this. I’m a bit sad that we don’t get a full series, though.

  9. Beppie

Yeah, I love Tennant and he’s my favourite Doctor, but I think it’s the right time for him to go.

  10. WildlyParenthetical

But I wanted one more series out of him. One more. Especially one more as the dark Doctor, all achey with his hurt heart and broke-apart soul!! Moo. Makes me sad. Also, I think that the teaming of Moffat writing and Tennant acting would have been swoon-worthy. And I know we’ll get some, but, well, me wants more!

    WildlyParentheticals last blog post..Champagne Days…

I hear that, WP. I love the Tenth Doctor to bits.

  12. Deus Ex Macintosh

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

this is cool, but turn down the disco music next time–it’s drowning out the dialogue so it’s actually hard to hear the lines.

and wahhhhh, I will miss David Tennant!
