If you can’t beat ‘em, then get your own YouTube channel

Monty Python and Led Zeppelin have decided to make high definition recordings of their most popular material available on YouTube. Python seem to be reaping the rewards in a boost to their DVD sales, because as their introductory clip below says, that was at least half the point:

Presumably Led Zeppelin will reap a similar sales harvest.

While some may whinge about YouTube posting material, Zep and the Pythons understand that they can make money by smart use of the Internet. Maybe they can teach the RIAA and associated dinosaurs that suing fans is not a business plan.

Now somewhere a Zep fan has compared the new high def video frame by frame with the scratchy copy picked up in the eighties. And blogged about it of course.
