Ottersealionday Open Thread – Long weekend edition

Happy first-weekend-following-first-full-moon-following-vernal-equinox Celebration!

  1. I can’t hear myself think anymore: our neighbours play their music — heavy base — so loudly. Yes, during the day.

  2. When I do that after being shaped it happens pretty much immediately. (Although they say it could take a while, never does.) So I guess, no reason.

  3. Right – I can’t stand it any longer. I have now upgraded my internet plan so that I can have my cable broadband speed back again instead of being restricted to dial-up speed.
Is there any good reason at all why my ISP can’t just flick the “faster” switch now instead of sending it to a work queue where it won’t happen until midnight?

  4. Joy-Mari, I hear that. Across the street is a lovely band that practices during the early evenings. With a drum set. Very loudly.

  5. There’s a censorship crackdown in Fiji, with police and “information officers” assigned to every newsroom to help the media decide what is and isn’t newsworthy. Bloggers are filling the gap with so-far uncensored reportage. More from Andrew Bartlett.

  6. O HAI.
I’ve been busy moving, so this is the first time I’ve been on the internet in a whole week. I still don’t have the broadband connected at home, but at least we’ve got enough done now that I can come into uni.
