    Bloody fucking government.

The Perth consultation was held last week. I heard about it after the fact from a fellow disability advocate who did attend. It was very odd that I didn’t hear about it before, I’m a member of several national and state disability orgs and generally get this sort of info several times from a number of sources. Although, I have been pre-occupied with housing drama (disability-accessible emergency housing? No such animal.) over the last few weeks, so it may have come through but I didn’t realise.

And a related comment that I’m too knackered to find the right thread for – it’s not just w/chair users who need the wider spaces, it’s people like myself with CP who walk with or without assistive devices and whose legs don’t bend enough to get in and out of a ordinary width carpark without bashing the shit out of the cars next to or causing my body more pain – add tallness and longlegness and I need all the door opening space I can get. This would apply to other similar conditions that limit limb flexibility. Fucking government. Bastards.

Yep, PWD run/represented orgs. And I think you’re right in what you’ve heard. Bastard government.

That’s exactly what happened here for our disability-focused forum. The only people who were told about it were Agencies that didn’t have PWD in positions of power.

“Nothing about us without us” is apparently lost on some.

Starting to get a bit of media attention on this issue. Good article from the Terror about people with invisible disabilities and the effect on them.

Also comments from Louise Savage about the time limits being put on parking.
