    I don’t understand how that article is a “feminist defence of Twilight”. It’s a reasonable discussion of the ways in which people adore movie stars, and about the ways in which that phenomenon is gendered. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the Twilight texts themselves, and the feminist critiques of them.

    Kate alludes briefly to this in the opening, but the power of a headline is strong. (Having said that, I’m guessing she doesn’t write her own headlines at Salon?)

    “Feminist defence” as it pertains to Twilight usually seems to mean “why it’s actually a GOOD thing for feminism that this is so successful, when our first, entirely understandable instincts are that it’s a DISASTER.”
