Friday Hoydens: Snowfighting Nuns

by tigtog on January 1, 2010

in Life

two nuns outside a large building, playing in the snow, one has just been hit by a snowball thrown by the other

Nunsense

While one cannot deny that becoming a nun resigns control of large chunks of one’s life to a very rigid hierarchy, nuns do have a history of hoydening with glee at the least opportunity.

At the start of 2009, we were walking along the waterfront in Wellington, when I saw four be-habited nuns, long dresses, veils and all, riding in a four person bike (this sort of thing), all peddling furiously and laughing with glee. It was quite surreal, and infectiously joyful. I scrabbled around in my handbag for my camera, but I couldn’t get to it in time, alas.

LOL! What a great picture. It’s snowing today, so if we get enough snow, I think I may go out and make snowangels ^^

I do find this pair very cheermaking. Jha, did you get to make those snowangels?

Deborah, I love the mental picture of those gleeful peddling nuns.
