We sold our house today. It’s a huge relief. Not as much as we wanted, but good enough.
Congratulations on making it through the process!
Love the cupcakes. Exhausted. Wish I could nap without feeling even worse. Turns out, 12.5 hour days and working weekends is quite tiring. Not that I’m complaining, love the job, just exhausted.
Oh, I wish I was better at baking – I’d love to make these little critters.
Spent the morning shopping with sprog the younger for upcoming school formal. Feeling traumatised.
Isn’t combining otters and cupcakes into one object a little much? Someone could get hurt. That’s all I’m saying.
Well, at least it’s not a bloody Owl in a Hat. That post is still getting thousands of hits per day. It’s utterly ridiculous and is using up stupendous bandwidth, which is why HaT has just hit bandwidth exceeded for the third time this month. I’m not having that just for a pic of a cute owl. No.
So, I am going to put it up somewhere else and redirect the post here to send viewers there. Sheesh.
The new season of Doctor Who starts in the UK on Monday night (their time) with an ep called The Night After Hallowe’en.

Went into town today. Spent rather a lot of money at LUSH on lovely new citrussy products (and a few not so new or not so citrussy products). Had best Chicken Rice and fresh ice lemon tea (outside of home and/or Asia). And thoroughly exhausted, got home before 3pm.
tigtog – I think it might be a story published on the website rather than actual new episodes. But hopefully I’m wrong and there really is new Who.

Other readers can then click on that link and go read your latest post, so it’s a circle of link-love. HaT used to have it before, but then it went all gremlin-glitch so I removed it. There’s been a few updates here at HaT and with the CommentLuv plugin as well, so I’ve put it back to see how it goes this time around.

I am late submitting my tax again this year. Sigh. And am currently overwhelmed with Things That Need Doing ahead of me disappearing to the other side of the planet. Starting to feel a little anxious about it, especially about the amount of money I’m likely to need in advance of going over (e.g. signing on for a new place requires one month of rent in advance + admin costs equivalent to a month’s worth of rent + one month’s rent as bond.) But I’m excited too! Trying to work out whether to buy a ridiculous duckdown puffa jacket. I haz fears of teh cold!
I had a massage yesterday. I had someone new do my massage, and I think I feel worse now, than I did before. So I’m going to have to call S, the owner, and let her know. And I feel kind of bad about it, but you can’t just do it wrong.

My impacted wisdom teeth are triggering migraines every five minutes. My ear holes are swollen and I’m absolutely miserable, but under the public system, it’s not enough to either rush on the operation to remove the wisdom teeth nor get antibiotics to deal with the increasing infection in my wisdom teeth pockets.
I’m so very irritated and sore and upset. I should be hanging out with my boyfriend tonight, but I’m too tired, too sore, too pookie-headed and too migrainey to do much but lie there and not move
On the good side, had a fun family party for Halloween last night. Today, I made a stupid post in my LJ about my cat and Halloween:

The cat, despite looking annoyed, was indeed given much in the way of kitty treats, and only wore the costumes for a few seconds and a time.
My entertainment today has been mostly reading through 2 threads of Doom on Pharyngula. Entitled D00dz with their Repetitive Point-Missing Displays have been handed their arses, oh yes.
Also, somebody posted this because it really was the only possible relevant response, and I lurf it.
Has everyone seen the I Hate Everything Cat? An oldie but a goody on icanhascheezburger. I love this cat, I felt like this today when the kids in the street kicked their football into our garage door making a huge booming noise through the house again. And then I told them I’d confiscate their ball if they did it again, whilst holding said football. With any luck, I’ve made an impression, and they will never do it again.
Wow, tigtog, I just went and looked at the threads you linked and it was… surreal. A woman draws a cartoon illustrating a certain kind of behaviour and then a bunch of guys decide to re-enact said behaviour? While simultaneously claiming the cartoon is wrong? Did no one explain to them about irony? ‘scuse the barrage of rhetorical questions. Something I’ve wondered for a while: is there a term for when someone say something that disproves itself?
Orlando, in logic it’s called a pragmatic contradiction:
A pragmatic contradiction occurs when the very statement of the argument contradicts the claims it purports. An inconsistency arises, in this case, because the act of utterance, rather than the content of what is said, undermines its conclusion.
For examples, Heraclitus’s proposition that knowledge is impossible; or, arguably, Nietzsche’s statement that one should not obey others, or Moore’s paradox. Within the analytic tradition, these are seen as self-refuting statements and performative contradictions. Other traditions may read them more like zen koans, in which the author purposes makes a contradiction using the traditional meaning, but then implies a new meaning of the word which does not contradict the statement.
