There’s a part of me that wants my childhood favourites to live forever. I was always very fond of the Brig.

    Thanks for the memories, Nicholas.

“Sergeant! Chap with wings, five rounds rapid.”

*holds salute for a minute’s silence*

    You will be missed, sir.

Tom Baker pays tribute to Nicholas Courtney – http://www.tom-baker.co.uk/pages/content/index.asp?PageID=159

According to Tom, Nick died of cancer.

    I always liked his moustache.

I adored the Brigadier, and was always very happy when he was on Doctor Who. I coveted his knit wear also.

I was truly saddened to hear about this. The Brigadier was one of my favourites because he grew and developed as the series went on.

The BBC’s Doctor Who pages are running tributes of course: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/news/bulletin_110223_02/Nicholas_Courtney_A_Tribute

“Somewhere out there, the Doctor just got a little lonelier.”

    Aww.

I hope they find a way to work the Brigadier’s funeral into the next season of Doctor Who (hell, what I’d really like is a Doctor Who/Sarah Jane special, where they find notes he’d compiled before his death on some threat, so he gets to help save the world one last time).

    That… is rather brilliant.
