    Woo new Who!

By virtue of the Who-fannage in this house and the early hour of rerun times, the Tiny Tyrant has been indoctrinated, this month. He’s still a little confused about the different Doctors, but so long as they have a TARDIS he’s fairly happy (and my father, who indoctrinated me at not much older was tickled to get a phone conversation about “Doctor! Who flies in TARDIS!”)

I am also unreasonbly excited. And I’m loving this family tradition.

Naturally, I won’t say any spoilers. Except to say that the monsters in this episode are a tremendous frelling nightmare.

    *still haven’t forgiven Captain Jack*

Looking forward to new Who. Four more sleeps – oh that’s right, it is Wednesday today not Sunday. I’ve really lost track of time with this five day, three public holidays weekend thingy.

  5. tigtog

Of course, it was four more sleeps when I wrote it, last night. It’s actually only three sleeps from today until the Saturday showing.

I got tremendously freaked out by the concept of the monsters in this ep. That REALLY messed with my brain. :(

  7. SunlessNick

Freaked out in a bad way rather than a good one? Sorry.

For those feeling nostalgic for Ten, I recommend looking up ‘Traffic Warden’ on YouTube. It’s a very sweet short film starring David Tennant.

OOOoooooohhh I did not know that about torchwood. Yay!!

[MODERATOR NOTE: THINGS MIGHT START TO GET A BIT SPOILERY FROM THIS POINT ON]

I bet the person in the spacesuit was an angry milliner.
Or the highly organised descendants of fish fingers, frustrated that the death of their delicious ancestors is used for comic relief.
Or the doctor that the Doctor stole his original clothes from.
    Or River.
Or a double of the Doctor from another time.

  11. uniquerhys

    Or Amy’s child.

Best guess from me is River.

The descendent of fish fingers don’t mind comedy. It’s the dipping in the Unholy Custard that is beyond the pale!

Probably preferable to intelligent descendants of custard.

  13. tigtog

    Oops, comment crossed @uniquerhys!

We obviously both agree that this thread needed more custard references.

  14. SunlessNick

So was I right about the monsters?

That facility that River and Rory found looked awfully like the half-built time machine from the Lodger.

  15. The Amazing Kim

    intelligent descendants of custard

Yeah, you wouldn’t want to trifle with those.

So was I right about the monsters?

Meh, they didn’t bother me so much. I think it’s the suits. Putting aliens in clothes is like dressing your pets in costumes – they might be a savage rottweiler, but you still can’t take them seriously.

I do like an alien that you can defeat by gossip, though. Get a bunch of people together saying “there’s an alien over there” and he’s done.

I love it. Take that, menfolk with dismissive ‘tudes to women talkin’ amongst themselves!!

So… uniquerhys, you suddenly made me think: Amy’s child, or River. Or Amy’s child, River? Way too farfetched/incestuous? I can’t think this one through at the moment, so help me, peoples! :-) It’d explain River’s cheerful dancing about in time, I have to say… although ‘your first is my last’ probably puts paid to that theory (though then again, I’m not sure that they can sustain that storyline, y’know? And *which* first? I thought it was in the Library, but now she seems to be implying it’s all about the kissage… hmmmmm. Thinking through time makes my head funny.

I loved “Sir, she’s packing again”.

    Bugger, can’t unmoderate myself tonight.

    You’ve mispelled your email address – there’s a ‘g’ missing.
