This is pretty cool.
The story ‘one town’s war on gay teens‘ in Rolling Stone mag is just devastating. (*trigger warning on that link* the article describes bullying, self harm and suicide of LBGTI teens).
I read it yesterday and I’m still trying to process it today. Institutionalized bigotry is a truly horrible thing.

There’s a conference happening on Sat 25th Feb in Sydney which looks like it might be fun.

Enjoy discussing your favourite Heyer moments with like-minded readers, discover new information about her life and works (including how to pronounce her surname!) and immerse yourself for a day in the stimulating, amusing and entertaining world of Georgette Heyer.
Speakers include:
*Jennifer Kloester, author of “Georgette Heyer’s Regency World”, and of a recently published biography of Heyer featuring new material from the family archives “Georgette Heyer: Biography of a Bestseller”;
*Susannah Fullerton, president of the Jane Austen Society of Australia, author of “Jane Austen and Crime” and noted literary lecturer.
Other speakers, male and female, will discourse on Heyer heroes and heroines, ‘my favourite Heyer’, and the historical and social world she describes so vividly and accurately in her novels.
I accidentally crossed the streams between friends on the left and ex-workmate acquaintances on the right on Facebook. Last time I looked the LNP were calling my friends members of the Hitler Youth. Unexpected.
Aargh! I haven’t had anything quite like that happen on Facebook yet. Sure to be just a matter of time.
I’ve had the occasional clash between reenactment acquaintances of a conservative bent and my more liberal friends. Fun times!
