I’m just about to head out the door to meet up with Mimbles at Epping to spend a day listening to presentations about the works of Georgette Heyer. Litbliss!

Have a nice day, everyone. Will probably check in briefly during the lunch break.

It was a lovely day, so glad we went :-) I particularly enjoyed the talk given by Jennifer Kloester author of Georgette Heyer, Biography of a Bestseller , must remember to tell the family that that’s what’s at the top of my pressies wish list now. Of course I also now have the urge to begin a Heyer reread, but I’d better finish the 4 other books I’m reading at the moment first.

Not sure which source of the smell in the pantry was more disturbing: the small furry creature that the kitten evicted or the thing that was perhaps once a potato :/

Certainly the small furry thing that has made almost everything smell of small furry thing is the most irritating. On the upside the pantry has had it’s best cleanout in months. Now all I have to do is clean everything and put it all back. Which is obviously why I’m here procrastinating.

  4. Oh Mindy, I sympathise! I haven’t had to clean out any small furry things from the pantry, but a potato goes off about once a year and the smell is quite … something.

@ tigtog, mimbles, have a good one.

This here is the only musician who has ever managed to lift my mood out of a depressive attack:

    Lindsey Stirling.

    (My favourite video being Shadows)

Martha Plimpton rocks. (But the comments lapse get bad right from the word go).

Baby didn’t stick. Doing ok, at this point.

  8. tigtog

Oh no, orlando! Sorry to hear that.

  9. mimbles

  10. The Amazing Kim

My condolences, Orlando. I’m so sorry. I hope you’re ok.

  11. Aphie

I am so terribly sorry, Orlando.

  12. Mindy

So sorry to hear that Orlando. (((hugs))) if you want them.

  13. Mary

So sorry orlando. I hope you have good support from friends and family.

  14. I’m so sorry, Orlando. Don’t be ashamed of however you react, it’s incredibly individual and personal (I went for “It was a successful proof-of-concept”).

  15. SunlessNick

    Many hugs, orlando.

Does making a joke about going into hospital to be spatchcocked count as a normal reaction? Because I think my husband was a bit squicked by that particular variety of gallows humour.

I have obviously completely put paid to the general chats for this thread, but I really do appreciate all your thoughts. Very helpful.

  17. SunlessNick

I don’t think there’s anything that counts as a normal reaction – something like this is too personal for your reactions to be anything but individual – which means it doesn’t count as an abnormal reaction either.

  18. Mindy

If it works for you Orlando then I say do it.

  19. I think that’s a perfectly reasonable reaction, Orlando. And if your husband is squicked, tell him he’s now got time to get used to your sense of humour around this subject before you give birth!

  20. WildlyParenthetical

So sorry to hear that, Orlando! :-(

Ghastly story about forced servitude in New York.

The last sentence (about the charges being brought) add a facepalm to the horror. As well as making me fear the victim’s ordeal isn’t over yet.
