De-lurking to say that this is one of my favourite books. As a thirteen year old, Melina Marchetta writes exactly the sort of books i think that teenagers need, with characters that are real, that go through real things, and have enough depth to make you actually consider things. Teenagers aren’t stupid.

I also really like ‘Saving Francesca’, also by Melina Marchetta, which has a very similar feel to it as ‘Looking for Alibrandi’.

Also de-lurking to say thanks for the review. I read the book in my late 20s after seeing the movie when it first came out and wished it had been there when I was a teenager.

I also gave Matt Newton a lot more credit than I should have because he was so good in it.
