P.S. Flickr has several bench-related photo pools (of course).

Bench Monday (anything bench-like) appears to be the most active.

I don’t really have a favourite, but this one in the UK looks pretty good.

I’m fond of this bench in Fawkner Park.

I like the Flagstaff Gardens, too, but don’t have a favourite bench (I seldom get there).

I prefer to sit on the grass myself. I don’t find park benches particularly comfortable.

Sitting on the ground is hard for me – my back and legs are dodgy and getting up is difficult. I’d do it more if I had one of the seats they gave us on the Penguin Tour on Phillip Island last year. The seats were stiff, padded rectangles, about A3 size, braced with cords at the sides to keep them at right-angles when opened. There was just enough padding to make them comfortable and they gave back support. Apparently people rave about them on every tour. :)
