Bob Ellis: sexist scum

Rather bemused to find this story through Shakesville via Mark Steyn via Tim Blair via Currency Lad, but they’ve got Bob Ellis bang to rights regarding this column for ABC’s Unleashed.

I’m getting to hate this woman.

Her towering frigidity, blazing hubris, bellowing mendacity, varying accent from region to region, her high school-standard acting and ceaseless haughty impersonation of Debbie Reynolds in The Unsinkable Molly Brown have got me properly simmering, and her confident thick-witted fist-in-the-face oratory, in a voice a Spectator columnist once well described as “a half-shout”, puts me in mind on some nights of the full moon like the one outside my window of the baleful, cruel contralto of my old lost love Bronwyn Bishop.

She is a stranger to consistency, sincerity and (at a guess) oral sex, a violent critic now and then of NAFTA which she and her husband thought up, and (it was wittily observed on CNN this week) knows in the end about as much about the inner workings of Executive Government as the White House pastry cook.

It goes on, and he later praises Barack Obama for perceived-by-Bob crucial contrasts, noting snidely:

We know he’s faithful to his wife.

As Blair notes, this fidelity is

Presumably due to her oral talents, if Bob’s any judge.

See, it’s Hill’s fault that Bill couldn’t keep it in his pants, according to Bob. When called out on it by a commentor at Unleashed, Bob is not only unrepentant, but Bill’s infidelity is only the tip of the iceberg of the evils allegedly unleashed by Hillary’s lack of libido.

How dare you add a woman’s perceived willingness to engage in oral sex as a marker of her character? You debase your own argument by including it in a litany of wrongs that include lack of consistency and sincerity which alone surely would have provided weight to your argument.

I wouldn’t normally have raised this aspect of her private life but Hillary’s failure to ‘keep the dog on the porch’, as the famous Arkansas phrase puts it, had this not then caused, or partly caused Monica, the impeachment, Karl Rove’s ‘morality politics’, Gore’s loss, Bush’s win and, by global warming, the end of the world; like the length of Cleopatra’s nose it’s been, as it turns out, a big factor in everything that followed including a million deaths in Iraq and therefore probably worth noting by historians like me. bob, of course it’s hillary’s fault that saint bill was (or is) what appears to be a serial harraser[sic] of women in the workplace. how silly to imagine otherwise! everyone knows that by the same logic the spouse of any sexual predator is to blame. take that current story in austria. had that wife/mother put out that man would have had no need to lock his daughter in the basement and have her bear 7 of his children.

It’s trivially easy to demonstrate that there are many men who have perfectly normal sex lives with their partners at home who are nonetheless serial philanderers. Just how many Hollywood break-ups and divorces would Bob like me to point to? Just the ones where there are known sex tapes of the couple available that show the women performing fellatio? I’m sure there’s a list somewhere, or if not yet probably will be within a few days.

There’s a sad trend of self-proclaimed leftist men snapping and hurling sexist slurs in weirdly demented ways, and Ellis’ drivel is simply another example of it.

Jeff Fecke at Shakesville makes the obvious nyahnyah return to Bob’s serve:

I’m guessing Ellis is the kind of guy who has no idea what he’s doing during cunnilingus. I don’t know that for a fact — indeed, I have no evidence to support that whatsoever. But if Ellis can make fact-free, irrelevant assertions about Hillary Clinton’s sexual prowess and use it to trash her character, I don’t see why I can’t do the same to him.

Bob Ellis doesn’t know how to lick pussy. And that, frankly, is why all life on Earth will be extinct in 4.5 billion years.
