The President’s Column is a wholehearted rejection of the national registration plan from COAG (Council of Australian Governments). Many pages of this volume have a black band on the top, giving the issue a memorial look.

* the Medicus magazine cover has a solid black background, with the text “National Registration and accreditation: An offer we should refuse.” There is a disembodied hand with marionette controller, the strings leading down to the word “Registration”.
* The women’s and children’s health update day is illustrated with the lower abdomen and upper thighs of a transparent woman. Her vagina, Fallopian tubes, and ovaries are visible as solid pink organs; her lower spine, pelvis and hips are also visible. She has no external genitalia, just the smooth Barbie look. Her vagina trails off into blurry nothingness near the lower end.
Whoever did that AMA cover is asking for (civil action) trouble.

That was apropos Mindy tripping over her washing.
The lovingly rendered uterus reminds me so much of the anatomical drawing in The Ladies’ Handbook. The uterus is the only important thing in our body, am I right, ladies? It has a crucial role in producing children. Though from this drawing it appears that we’re not to discuss how the children got in there, or how they intend to get out.
I’m showing my age here, but the first image is a reference to the posters for The Godfather whence came the line “I’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse.
Ha ha I guess that is why doctors are so keen on cutting babies out of there!
So true! Do you mean this one? The rendering of women’s bodies as not only headless but transparent, and with the uterus as the most important feature, is certainly a time-honoured genre.
It took me ages to realise this, as I just mentioned at my eljay. (Gangster movies are not my thing at all.) And some “representatives” of my profession sure are being melodramatic about it all.
