LNP staffer quits after anti-feminist rant in email

LNP staffer quits after anti-feminist rant in email

By tigtog on April 18, 2012

He sent an email to a Queensland feminist about the superiority of men, telling her to “get a life” and calling her a “sourpuss” for writing an opinion piece about the need for more women in parliament. Some media advisor, eh?

Downfall parody: #QantasLuxury

An example of when STFU might be a wonderfully good idea: attempting to get a pissed-off customer base to give you warm PR fuzzies might just not be the best idea within weeks of stranding 80K of them a long way away from where they actually wanted to be

ObFacebookTickerLoathing: all that screenspace just for the boring stuff?

By tigtog on September 23, 2011

To me, this doesn’t sound like a problem that needs solving. If Facebook users aren’t sharing stuff because they worry it will bore their friends, good! Thank you, people of Facebook, for your restraint in choosing not to bore me.

But Zuckerberg couldn’t let this undersharing stand.

BFTP: Slash and Teh Magick Testicles of Perspicacity

BFTP: Slash and Teh Magick Testicles of Perspicacity

By Lauredhel on January 20, 2011

Like all good evolutionary psychologists who focus on gender, Don hasn’t bothered to talk to any actual *whispers* women. Especially not to any women who write and/or study this, erm, *whispers* smut. Because women can’t define their own experience, can’t tell their own stories, can’t have any useful insights into their own motivations. Because women’s fan academia doesn’t really exist in any meaningful sense, not until chest-beaters come along and put their stamp of Knowledge onto it. Because women’s culture is there to be picked apart with tweezers and analysed with a touch of distanced fascination, a modicum of distaste, and a whopping serve of wilful ignorance. For lo, he has Teh Magick Testicles of Perspicacity. Here, let him show you them.

Fairfax Feature Fail

By Lauredhel on December 30, 2009

Fairfax never fail to disappoint. Right now WAToday is running a front-page-promoted slideshow thus: The photos of the decade A selection of amazing, spellbinding images from the past ten years. Right next to a photo of a burning World Trade Centre tower. The rest of the slideshow is largely a collage of destruction, violence, death, [...]

Marvel Fail: rape culture apologism from writer, where the hell were the editors?

By tigtog on September 17, 2009

Storyline summary: villain named Chameleon takes Peter Parker’s shape and has sex with his roommate Michelle Gonzalez, who thinks he is Parker. Subsequent events show that the incident is being played for laughs with the oh so hilarious misunderstandings afterwards between Parker and roommate as she morphs immediately into a super-possessive clingy and bossy girlfriend from Nightmareland.

…. with a sign on the door saying “Beware of the Leopard”

By Lauredhel on June 18, 2009

Just found out on the grapevine – because these places and dates are not available on the FaHSCIA website – that the only Sydney public consultation on the proposed new draconian national disabled parking restrictions is: In Parramatta. On Friday night. At six p.m. When there’s rugby on at Homebush. Related posts: Polling place accessibility [...]

“Obesity Drops Risk of Severe Swine Flu More Than 40%”

By Lauredhel on June 15, 2009

…That’s what I would be saying, from actual sources instead of the mainstream news, if I believed that a sample size of 30 was likely to give statistically significant results. Anne Schuchat, M.D., interim deputy director for the CDC’s (Centers for Disease Control) Science and Public Health Program, is on it. AAFP quotes her as [...]

Slash and Teh Magick Testicles of Perspicacity

By Lauredhel on May 5, 2009

Via glandujakiss and sqbr. You don’t even have to know anything about slash to get a few giggles and more than a few eyerolls out of this interview with evolutionary psychologist Don Symons, author of Warrior Lovers: Erotic Fiction, Evolution and Female Sexuality [eta: see comments 1 & 2]. Like all good evolutionary psychologists who [...]
