Apparently the ANC had been alerted to the completely unskilled performance of this “interpreter” as long as 18 months ago, but are pointing fingers elsewhere for his selection for the memorial because it was a “state-organised” event.

Hey, are you a woman? Are you also an Atheist, Freethinker, Humanist, Rationalist, Secularist, Agnostic, Non-religious and/or Otherwise-identifying non-believer?
If so, have you already added your relevant details (just a few simple demographic datapoints) to the Atheist Census Online? Because if you haven’t, I’m about to attempt to persuade you to do so, even though it is just another unscientific internet poll.

All over the news in Australia today: the Girl Guides of Australia have removed references to God and the Queen from their pledge.
Somewhat in the news in the USA last week: a new activist network for Secular Women was announced.

I really like Feministe, I think the site produces some amazing writing, and I appreciate Mamamia for seeking to incorporate feminism in a mainstream, commercial motherhood site because that isn’t easy, but oh my god… We’re surprised, as feminists, that some of you are not more suspicious of lines of debate designed to isolate us and make us defensive.
