International Women’s Day could not have a better Friday Hoyden than Ela Bhatt. A member of the international social activist organisation The Elders, Bhatt comes from India, where she received the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development in 2011.

International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA) will celebrate International Women’s Day 2013 with a concert, “Half the Sky”, at the Melbourne Recital Centre on March 7th.

Tomorrow is International Women’s Day, and the above title is the United Nations official theme for the year – different nations may choose different themes in any year, so it might not necessarily be what your particular national IWD activities are emphasising. You can find out about IWD activities in your region at the official website.
