Friday Hoyden: Miranda Hart
As promised earlier this week, here’s a Miranda appreciation thread. MGEITF – Miranda: A Masterclass Miranda Hart, the award winning star of Miranda, is joined by co-star Sarah Hadland and BBC Head of In-House Comedy Mark Freeland to give a master class on the hit sitcom. The session examined the show’s origins on Radio 2, [...]
Discussion Thread: Shakespeare Uncovered
The recent import from the BBC 4, Shakespeare Uncovered, is a six-part series in which one well-known public face of the theatre each episode gives an in-depth, personal walk-through a selection from Shakespeare’s plays. Four examine a single play, the other two look at more than one, related by genre. The Beeb’s website has outlines and [...]
RocKwiz and other seasonal delights
Sydney has moved into my favourite season for this city – autumn. Bright blue skies, crisp mornings and balmy days: and in the evenings, some better TV…
April Whimsy
Is there any such thing as too much chocolate? Is this teeny puppy the cutest thing you have seen today? Is this a rabbit? Really?

Episode 6 of Season 7 will go to air on Saturday March 30th in the UK and USA, and there’s an intriguingly Who-shaped TBA spot sitting on Auntie’s schedule for Sunday 31st March here in Australia.

Signal Boost: Octogenarians in the Melbourne Region Wanted for Theatre Project
Theatre director & writer Roslyn Oades is currently researching a new theatre project exploring the experiences of 18 and 80 years, and what can be learnt from these two very different viewpoints. The first stage of the project (Feb-June 2013) will focus on the 80 year and over age group. Roslyn is currently looking for interested community members to participate in conversation groups as well as community workers who may be able to assist her in this process.
Friday Hoyden Quick Hit: Women Who Direct Films
With the Oscars mired in their annual refusal to see directing talent in anyone who doesn’t remind the Academy members of themselves, resulting in another disgraceful exclusion of any female directors from the Best Director nominations for yet one more predictable, narrow-minded year (I see no reason to hold back on this topic), here are some links to discussions, links and clips of movies made in 2012 that were directed by women.
Marry, Shag or Cliff? Sean Bean edition
Remember the rules? It’s been a while: you must choose one of each of the three candidates to match each fate. No skipping any.
Or you could just talk about your favourite entertainments, since this is just a hook to hang some pop culture on. How about this awards season, eh?
