I think I just had an epiphany about the Big Giant Head phenomenon in bad photoshopping of glamour photos of women. The missing ribs and wasp waists are bad enough, but the BGH lollipop-look appears again and again and again. For one example at Photoshop Disasters, see this post: Intymnie: Sorry I Have A Huge Headache:

I may regret this. I am venting at a bullying hierarchy, not the body of believers. I don’t find religious beliefs persuasive, but see no need to insult believers in general. The Vatican hierarchy is another matter entirely – I find their failure to acknowledge their responsibility for dealing inadequately with serial clerical sexual abusers simply despicable. Pope Benedict’s tepid… Read more →
Kim has some excellent analysis of where it fails to hit the mark over at LP. Two major problems: the setting of the apology (a mass for seminarians and clergy/religious orders only) reflects an inward focus on dealing with abuse as a problem for the Church internally with the victims and their families left outside the process (symbolically yesterday as… Read more →
Ganked from comments at Sadly, No!. On July 18, 2008 at 18:47, Percy ‘Mad Dog’ Plumflute said, Poster on the global warming “hoax” thread: I believe the only reason we’re in a cooling period is as a result to the icy cold demeanor of American women. Their collective frost is enough to snuff out the sun. Posted by: Lincoln at… Read more →
Shorter Cardinal Pell: If you agree to a candlelight dinner then you’re just asking for it, aren’t you? How could sex later be rape? [link] Shorter Cardinal Pell: It’s totally OK to tell a clerical abuse complainant that they’re the only one to ever accuse that priest while writing the same day to another complainant against the same priest. My jaw just hit the floor. Around the Catholic “World Youth Day” week in Sydney roils much discussion of Church-sanctioned child rape and sexual abuse. Bishop Anthony Fisher is rather pissed off that some people aren’t concentrating on the things the church wants them to concentrate on, like, oh I dunno, pop music. Clearly fed up to the back teeth… Read more →
So this post by cowardly asshat voyeur Nicu Buculei, a 35 year old man from Romania, was on Planet Fedora the other day, and was up for a while before being pulled down. I’m not going to reproduce the image here, but the post includes a heading, “Upskirt”, with a cellphone image of the legs of a woman on the… Read more →
Simply because it’s been a whole month of all-encompassing internet traditions now (here’s a short explanation), and I’m angling to be featured on the blog. Although I carefully made it very non-revelatory – (obviously something is happening to Donna, but what and when?) I suspect that the pic above is too spoileriffic for the strict standards of ihasatardis , on… Read more →
I finally got around to reading the bumper Target Toy Sale catalogue.
And it’s just as pinkly sickening as you’d expect.
I just watched a bunch of kids at a school holidays kids’ club playing a tipping/tagging game – the one where originally there’s only a single “it”, but as they tag others to become “it” they all have to hold hands to make a chain, theoretically making it far too tricky for the remaining targets to avoid the ever-lengthening “it”-chain… Read more →
Fred Thompson is not the only former Law and Order cast member to attempt a run for President of the USA in ’08. Michael Moriarty, who once had the part of prosecutor Ben Stone in the series (1990-94) is also running for President on the ticket of a party no-one seems to have heard of: The Realist’s Party. Interesting choice… Read more →
