One of my 2016 New Year resolutions has been daily decluttering. Nothing too intensive on any one day, just picking a corner/box/drawer/cupboard/shelf and committing a Neatness Of The Day. Some Daily Neatnesses will no doubt be more impressive undertakings than others.
It was about seven hours ago, and I meant to schedule a post to publish at the exact time, but life got in the way. Whatever your cultural/religious/astronomical orientation, may the turning of the calendar lead only to better things for you.
The casual use of violence perpetrated on the female body in telling a story about a man’s experience will not be news to most people here, but it might be enlightening to look at it in the context of what is often considered to be one of the great works of humanist literature, one that still carries more cultural weight than possibly any other, and is often claimed to speak to all people, everywhere.
