media circus

A (mostly) weekly thread focussed on reportage/analysis of current affairs, social media storms and the political process. Share your bouquets and brickbats for particular items in the mass media, or highlight cogent analysis or pointed twitterstorms etc in new media. Discuss any current sociopolitical issue (the theme of each edition is merely for discussion-starter purposes – all current news items are on topic!).

Media Circus: Blaming/Shaming Women Edition

In just the last week Anita Sarkeesian, Zoe Quinn and over 100 female showbiz celebrities brought it all on themselves, doncha know.

Media Circus: Budget 2014 Edition

The ABC website has a handy special Budget summary page that will be updated as the announcements roll in. So who else thinks that if 200+ white schoolgirls had been kidnapped from a boarding school anywhere on the planet that the media would be making it not just a top story but the top story for weeks until their whereabouts was discovered?
