I’ve loved every moment Fiona Shaw is on-screen as Marnie, although it wasn’t until I googled her bio right now that it finally clicked that why I knew her face so well was because Petunia Dursley. I also learnt that she’s just about to direct The Marriage of Figaro with the English National Opera. Versatility: you have it by the bucketsful, Ms Shaw.

Me and my suspicious mind
I just really hope that the film producers planning to turn a profit by telling of the horrors visited on one group of disadvantaged children had the grace to pass on those very robust film set buildings that they were so very proud of to people who could turn them to good use for other disadvantaged children.

In Othello, it is Emilia, unfortunate wife of the villainous Iago, who delivers the woman’s equivalent of Shylock’s more famous “Has not a Jew eyes?” speech.
Such is the focus on the central couple that it is easy to forget that two husbands kill their wives in this play.
