Today in weird places my mind goes

Coming downstairs to find the sprogs watching the Star Trek reboot movie for the umpteenth time, and having my head in fanspace after reading 15 Reasons Rebooting Spider-Man Is A Really Bad Idea yesterday, this is the thought that crossed my mind (and it may have already been discussed in fandom, but I am so not googling it):

Endangered Sunday: grey nurse shark

I’ve been in the water with a lot of sharks: leopard sharks, wobbegongs, Port Jackson sharks, grey and white tipped reef sharks and grey nurse sharks. What’s a scary thing I’ve encountered diving? That dreaded apex predatory homo sapiens. Homo sapiens is of course the big threat to today’s Endangered Sunday species, the grey nurse shark or carcharias taurus.

Thursday Cheezburger – Over it

It doesn’t matter what you are over – Cheezy musak in shopping centres, Christmas, New Year resolutions, cricket on the TV, your team losing cricket on the TV, school holidays, Hot Cross buns in the shops already (I sincerely hope that they aren’t but neither would I be surprised); here is where you can let all your frustrations out using Lolcats.

Post your own favourite in-theme Cheez here, and wait for admin image magic to make it appear.

Train Nerds Alert

The UK’s National Railway Museum has a free download on its website – a train simulator where one can drive The Flying Scotsman.

Whoydensday: Series 6 Preview

This preview was broadcast on BBC One immediately following the 2010 Christmas special in the UK (and what did you think of that, eh?). Those who don’t like teasers/spoilers might like to avoid this thread.

Google Autocomplete Poetry

Inspired by this FAIL in which Google autocompleted “can you eat” with “can you eat human flesh with wooden teeth”, I decided to start asking Google a few questions, and see what other people were searching for.

I think it makes a kind of poetry – and a kind of comment on the human condition.

BFTP: Am I being too much of a snob?

Am I saving myself as much time and possible grief as I think I am when I refuse to read their blog if I click on a commentor’s profile and find that they’ve listed The Da Vinci Code as a favorite book?
