Today I attended a rally for Marriage Equality in my city.[…] But that’s not the point of this post. The point of this post is to discuss August 13th, what has been declared by The Australian Family Association and The National Marriage Coalition as National Marriage Day.
In things that I wish surprised me, some of the discussion has brought Victorian One Nation State President John Groves out of the woodwork, and a look at his twitter timeline not only comes up with gems like calling Julia Gillard a “redheaded itch”, but he seems to actively support “poofter bashing”.
Because for too many people in the world nothing less than marriage confers any domestic partner’s rights at all, no matter what other legal “protections” and arrangements are put into place.
Which she wouldn’t need if she didn’t live in a town full of sanctimonious liars. Congratulations to Fulton, Mississippi for the place you now hold in the annals of bigotry.
