Awwww :-) Takes me right back to the days of afternoons spent snoozing on the lounge with my first bub fast asleep on top of me. Can’t do that with subsequent kids, the older ones won’t let you.

The big question for today is do we have enough energy to wrangle the kids into coming into the city to join the climate action rally?

  2. orlando

Go on, mimbles; we’re going to go. I like the way they’re framing it as a family day, and obviously setting up a contrast with the other side.

I’m trying to decide whether to get out of the pyjamas too. It’s gonna have to happen, methinks.

Also, Flickr is playing up for me, and has been since last night. I think someone’s trying to hack them. Took me 4 refreshes before I got to see the awwwwdorable otterness.

Have been depressed reading about Gillard’s Whitlam oration where apparently those of us who vote Green aren’t proper Australians [thread on LP] – I’m so disappointed by her.

I’ve had to tip my son off so i could go fishing for clams (or breakfast cereal) too today. He finally fell asleep on my husband, while watching rage together.

So, I went to the rally, and cheered and clapped, took photos and enjoyed the families with kids and dogs ambience. They reckon there were 8,000 of us there, and only 2,000 at the shock-jock anti-carbon-tax rally.

Sadly I missed orlando, because I didn’t get her SMS in time (there was too much noise to hear my phone).

Wandered on to Chinatown for lunch with the fambly, which was nice.

We were still having breakfast and still in our pjs at 10am, it was not to be. At the moment the boys are doing homework they should have done last week and Caitlin is making a birthday card for her Nan. It’s been a long week (me sick, Adam away in Melbourne all week) and we’re in recovery mode.

Sorry I missed your call, too, tigtog. As you said: too much noise. I guess mobile phones don’t solve everything in modern life after all. At the time you called we were just discussing whether to nip into town for noodles or go straight home, but went with the latter as wee fella was looking tired. Great vibe at the rally; very positive and gentle. Feel very lucky to be somewhere where you go to a political rally, there are mounted police, and they spend their time chatting to the little kids about their horses.

Argh – #notetofemales is trending hashtag on twitter, and is pretty much just as bad as you might expect.

In better news, Hannah Gadsby’s show at the National Gallery was a blast. Love a bit of fine art snark. Can’t afford to go to much this year, but this one was worth it.

ABC news says that 4000 people attended each rally. Hmmm.

  10. tigtog

Ooh, you lucky duck TAK! Hannah is hands-down one of my favourite comics.

It’s hard to know really. There were certainly a lot of people in Belmore Park, and I bet they didn’t count the dogs.

OMG I think we might have bought a house. Feeling so overwhelmingly adult right now.

  13. mimbles

    Exciting and scary! :-)

    @tigtog re #notetofemales

I’m soo glad I listened to my gut and DIDN’T click on it when I saw it.

It’s been quite a ridiculous month and a bit. Uterus-related issues resulting in surgery and such early last month, and work has been full of staffing dramas and incompetence.

It better news, it’s Supanova Weekend here in Brisbane, I was out there yesterday, had a great time. Generally I’m not that interested in the Famous Guests as I am in the stalls and amazing cosplay, but some cool folks, this year. Also, I got these; the Stormtrooper for Stephen and the Batgirl for me. :) I think they’re adorable.

*waves at Jennifer* Good to see you convalescing and cosplaying!

I can’t resist a bit of schadenfreude at audiences discovering that Charlie Sheen live on stage is not quite the same as Charlie Sheen edited on tape after multiple retakes:

“According to multiple people inside the Fox Theatre … the majority of the audience heckled not only Charlie, but his buddy Simon Rex, who came out and started rapping.”

  17. Jennifer

@tigtog, sadly, no cosplay for me yesterday, too much going on to plan a good costume, but there were some great costumes around!

  18. tigtog

ah well, enjoying others’ cosplaying nearly as much fun? Sounds like it.

  19. Julie

Yesterday I had a pamper day :P I had my hair done and then went and had a massage! Very relaxing. :D

    I love these otters <3

This day seems to have gone on forever. Maybe because it was such a lovely day and it seemed a waste not to have the washing drying, the shower clean, the chook straw changed, the garden weeded, the tip visited, the garage tidied to allow cars in etc. I did not do this all myself mind. I think I shall sleep well tonight and probably be sore and completely useless tomorrow. Being a Monday there might not be much change actually.

    @ Bluemilk – how exciting!

  21. mimbles

So, apparently I have rather high blood pressure. Guess that’ll be the genetic heritage of my mum and grandma (who, incidentally, had said high blood pressure right up to the day she died at one week shy of 100) coming home to roost. Though I’m sure my eating and exercise habits don’t help :-( My GP has put me on Coversyl and I’m having a bit of a “piss off reality I don’t want to deal with you” reaction to the whole thing.

*sigh* Thanks for the venting space.

  22. Mindy

@ mimbles – yeah me too. I have to put them somewhere that I can see them so I remember to take the bloody things.

  23. tigtog

@ mimbles @mindy – have so far avoided the medication but I can’t really account for it #onborrowedtime

Great depressurator – trending hashtag #Boltsnewshow – whee!

  24. mimbles

@mindy Yes, I can see that being a problem for me too!

@tigtog I’m enjoying all your retweets out of the corner of my eye as I read an ebook in my browser :-)

  25. tigtog

FYI to any lurkers/newbies: I generally tweet & retweet on my @vivsmythe account on Twitter. If you like that sort of thing.

  26. tigtog

new discovery – for those certain je ne sais quoi moments on twitter there is now the arseh.at URL shortening service.

  27. Mindy

Oh I despair at myself sometimes. Getting all het up about something not being approved and discovering the reason for that is that you haven’t submitted it is not good for you.

  28. tigtog

Whee! Fox News has dumped Glenn Beck’s talkshow!

Boo – they still reckon they’re going to work on further projects with him. But maybe that’s just arsecovering talk.
