Have just discovered a thing full of puppies

Puppy Bowl VIII

The eighth edition of the Puppy Bowl expects to be one of the best in its history. Even hardcore football fans and macho meatheads can’t deny the cuteness of puppies and kitties mixing it up on the gridiron. The show, which runs on Animal Planet from 3-5 p.m. and repeats at 5, 7, 9 and 11 p.m. EST, even has an all-star lineup of small pigs this year. Some of the puppies that will be featured are Australian Shepherd mixes, while others are Dachshund or pitbull breeds.

The drop-dead cute animals are all from shelters, the ASPCA and a veterinarian supervise all the shenanigans, and there’s loads of reminders on how simple it is to adopt an animal from one’s local pet shelter. You can see the starting line-up on Animal Planet’s website.

Right now, this little chihuahua-terrier mix named Fumble is trending on Twitter, because he is dominating play.

Of course, you need video. Here’s the opening of Puppy Bowl VI on youtube: the puppies enter the field in slow motion for extra awwwww-factor and each has a player profile cut-away which is almost definitely made up and entirely irrelevant anyway.

There is also a Kitty Halftime Show (of course). Pretty sure that the loud cheesy music is added in post-production.
