Whimsy: Baby Leopard Edition

two leopard cubs in a pale pinkish bowl - one is spotted, one is all black This lovely pair of leopard cubs were shared by Wild for Wildlife and Nature on FB, who didn’t tell us where these babies are living (I’m expecting that it’s a zoo, given that bowl they’re in).

Sometimes we all just need to see teh awesome so we can chillax. Please share your favourite links in comments … anything that has recently surprised, delighted, intrigued or otherwise positively engaged you: think of these threads as a brain-bleach repository.

n.b. If you want to share something more sociopolitical, please take it to either a Media Circus thread or the weekly Open Thread.

  1. I hope you guys won’t mind me posting this whole thing here. Is been getting me through a few things and I tend to well up on the sat line…
Song for a Fifth Child by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton
Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
    (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
    (Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
    (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

  2. Maybe you’ve all seen this but after seeing and hearing some lyrebirds recently I am still blown away by this footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjE0Kdfos4Y&feature=youtube_gdata_player

  3. I made a Lorem Ipsum generator that only uses William T. Riker quotes called Riker Ipsum rikeripsum.com #tng— Jessica Allen (@jessicaspacekat) January 3, 2013

  4. I love this bunny foo foo macro, but in a slightly odd way because this particular kid’s rhyme is something I never heard of before going on the internet with lots of USians.
