Today’s Open thread is hosted by an otter who looks how I feel.
Please feel free to use this thread to natter about anything your heart desires. Is there anything great happening in your life? Anything you want to get off your chest? Reading a good book (or a bad one)? Anything in the news that you’d like to discuss? What have you created lately? Commiserations, felicitations, temptations, contemplations, speculations?

The hayfever is still winning.
Fucking hayfever. My sympathies.
It’s the middle weekend of the school holidays here, and today we’re prepping for the Lad’s birthday party (offsite this year, but self-catered). And kinda sharing his almost-11-yo excitement about his birthday. Fun!
I am thrilled to bits that sexism is dead and the gender wars are over. Phew. Now that Julia and her minions have put away their gender cards life can go back to normal. So long as Tony locks up his adult daughters’ chastity, gender relations in Australia will be just fine. *walks into sunset whistling Helen Reddy*

For Tigtog:
In the interests of defending my minion-cred, so to speak…

I haven’t viewed it to see whether Christopher Eccleston shows up, but it appears to be a dialogue between Thor and Loki, so there’s plenty of eye candy there anyway.
(Just for the sake of reference, I get all my news about upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies either from The Mary Sue, or from Tor.com)
The Mick Aston Memorial Jacket is finished at last! Took four days short of a month to do.
Here ’tis being shown off in the St Vincent Gardens. (Yes I did crop the sign in the background down to “WHO” deliberately.)
For Whovians: Oh dear GAWD:

Do not go quiet into that burning blight
Rage, rage against the “Saving” of Daylight
*&%^$##@ Summer Time …
(apologies to Dylan Thomas)
I went for the Mr Darcy bunny, but stayed for the otters in scarves (Yep, still lurking here. Hi all! Working with Smalls is exhausting and awesome)
Those otters in scarves are a bit awesome. Hope the little ones are being good to you Aphie.
Well, so far it’s only (only!) 30C here in inner southwest Sydney. The BOM is still forecasting 39C though.
I hope everybody else in the heatwave zone is trundling through OK.
I boggled at that forecast last night, tigtog. Cool and raining here, snow on Mt Hotham and 39 in Sydney … there’s too much flippin’ weather around, dammit! Hope your temps ease off and don’t get any higher. They predicted 30 for us in Melbourne yesterday, but mercifully it only got to about 26.
The rabbits are all looking very soporific, they’re stretched out as flat as they can in the shade yawning periodically. The car was convinced it was 42 degrees at one point on my collect the kids from school travels, but I think it was just having an OMG it’s hot in the sun! moment.
We were off on another of our dark ages camping trips over the long weekend and I’m all inspired to weave stuff again. Or, more accurately, to start weaving stuff – I now have 5 projects on the go. I did finish one this week too though!
It’ll be a hot return to belly dancing tonight, I suspect. Ms5 will be coming with me this term, on a trial basis. Although this complicates plans for the Tipsy Rabbit evening next Thursday! (I dance in Marrickville, which is most convenient for the Red Rattler, home to the Tipsy Rabbit, but I shall be long on 5yos).
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH we’ve just had the first huntsman of the season in the house
We managed to keep the guinea pigs cool yesterday with lots of watery veggies, a couple of ice-filled water bottles to snuggle with/lick, and putting them in a south-facing room.
I’m glad I don’t have to worry about that today because today is the day I SUBMIT MY THESIS. Afterwards I am going to jump in a ball pit. It will be such a relief to have it safely in the university and just done.
Congratulations Chally! There’s no feeling quite like it.
Yay Chally! What a feeling that must be.
Yay! Chally, Well done!
Thank you very much.
