Otterday! And Open Thread

This weekend’s open thread is hosted by an Asian small-clawed otter pup at Woodland Park Zoo getting its very first vet check.

closeup of the fuzzy face of an otter pup being held in a vet's hands. Its mouth is open, revealing a little pink tongue.

Please feel free to use this thread to natter about anything your heart desires. Is there anything great happening in your life? Anything you want to get off your chest? Reading a good book (or a bad one)? Anything in the news that you’d like to discuss? What have you created lately? Commiserations, felicitations, temptations, contemplations, speculations?

  1. Awww, what a cutie.
I’m feeling un-bronchitised at last. Still lacking a wee bit of my usual energy, but at least the lungs are clear.
Next week, off to the doc for a flu vaccination.

  2. Good to hear you’re getting better at last, tigtog.
I’ve got to take Mads to the vet tomorrow. She’s had a few snuffs and sneezes and coughs over the last week (nothing like having cat snot sneezed on you). I don’t think she’s got flu, she’s as full of beans as usual, but it seems to be a cat cold or something, and needs checking out.
Memo to self: have band-aids and ointment ready for when putting her in her basket.
I tried putting a CV together today with Google Docs and my brain fried just looking at it. Gah.

  3. Yay for feeling better. Just had a trial run with my Mum’s dog who we will be looking after for a bit. A wander around and a big snooze on the verandah until someone comes out kind of dog. Should be good I hope.

  4. That sounds fun, Mindy! What breed is zie?

  5. Hey, apparently most of those hand stencil cave paintings by prehistoric Europeans were made by women: see here

  6. Well, Mads does have a touch of the flu, complete with fever, and $180 later has all sorts of pills and potions to take. They seem to be working, fortunately, so we won’t have to take her up again or do the dreaded Vick’s in steam treatment.
I finally got my CV put together today. It looks alarmingly thin when most of the info and all the education is so out of date it’s irrelevant.
I also got my knitted skirt finished last night, yay!

  7. It’s lovely!

  8. Thank you, Mindy! 🙂
