So I only just discovered the Tomlin Rule

“No matter how cynical you become, it’s never enough to keep up.” – Lily Tomlin

The quote is about trying to stay informed by reading the newspapers, and seems to embody my own attempts at self-preservation in a world where duplicitous absurdities constantly gain more traction than rigorously scrutinised realities. The last few months that’s been more true than ever.

The quote is sometimes attributed to Tomlin’s wife, writer Jane Wagner, with whom she has collaborated for decades. Tomlin received the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award on Jan 29, 2017 for her long career of perfectly timing her delivery of those quips.

Which reminds me, I really need to watch 9 to 5 again.

Three woman sit on a large business desk, toasting each other with champagne. Seated behind them is their male boss, tied to his office chair.
