Hehe. This post deserves better than to be an April Fools post. Best thing I’ve read all morning!

I’m delurking after a year or so to say: Lauredhel, you rule.

*spittake* Oh, you rule. How better to illustrate your point than finest satire?

    You win the internet.

    Thankyou!

Can I just say that it’s really quite difficult to deliberately write just a little bit awkwardly? I mean, I’m sure I achieve “awkward” a lot on my own by mistake, but writing it consciously is… damn strange.

    This is awesome!

And a brilliant demonstration of how dreadfully cliched most writing about PwDs is. I just hope some abled athletes read this and get an inkling of how demeaning it is to have their abilities written about in this way.

That was great! It’s so exquisitely gauche.

Inspirational! And I’m so glad I get to see these brave athletes for a full half hour in the afternoon on the ABC, plus clips on a small, jerky screen that I can’t actually watch! Also inspirational!

I’ve been remiss in not hat-tipping meloukhia, who helped me brainstorm it.

You are brilliant and wonderful and also a genius. Everybody needs to bookmark this and recommend it as required reading to everybody they know even vaguely connected with journalism, ESPECIALLY those who write about PWD.

I hate April 1 in general because I don’t think pranks based on scaring people or making people feel stupid are in the least funny, and all the OTHER stuff would work on any day of the year not just April 1. And yes this work work on any day quite well and I loved it.

    Thank you :)
