Bother, missed the planetary conjunction

Venus, Mercury then Mars are hanging above the Moon over the Swan River in Perth on September 1st. According to APOD, it’s still possible to see the three planets at dusk for a few more days, but they are getting further and further apart, and if you have hills or tall buildings to your west you may miss them all together (both is the case here in Sydney, sadly for me).

Just as well the WACA wasn’t fired up that night – the glare would have washed the moon out for sure.
