The Great Smiley Conjunction

I’m sure there are better photographs of the Great Smiley Conjunction out there.

But this is mine, taken mere moments ago; and that’s what makes it special.

  1. Thatโ€™s awesome. ๐Ÿ™‚
Itโ€™s been too cloudy here to take any photos, unfortunately.

  2. Well done! I was bemoaning the cloud earlier when I took the dog for a walk with friends, we were all disappointed to miss the smiley face.

  3. Thanks for the reminder โ€“ I just went our and added to the great smiley blogging for this evening with my own collection of photos.
Got to love the digital SLR!

  4. Thatโ€™s a very satisfactory photo.
I loved seeing the happy face. I spotted the eyes a couple of evenings ago, and after I tucked les fillettes into bed, I raced outside to take a look.
A year or so ago, the then Miss Eight and I had a lovely time watching a lunar eclipse. Iโ€™m not so impressed by planetary conjunctions, being as they are mere freaks of our position relative to to the planets, but it was still fun to see a smile in the sky.

  5. Thatโ€™s fantastic. And a friend just got out of the hospital today, so the timingโ€™s fantastic too (enough to deserve saying Ecclestone-voice).

  6. I love it!

  7. Iโ€™m actually rather relieved that it was cloudy here in Sydders, otherwise Iโ€™d be really upset that I forgot and missed it.

  8. It was clear in Adders so I neither forgot nor missed it, but I wish Iโ€™d thought to look for it earlier, before it got completely dark, so I could have tried to get a dark-blue photo like this. Gorgeous.

  9. The kids enjoyed it, although it was cloudy.

  10. Lovely photo. It has been a fine few years for star gazing with Mars so close, then Comet McNaught and a total lunar eclipse etc.

  11. I was so excited! I was on the mobile yelling at friends and family to go outside.

  12. Oh, itโ€™s gorgeous.
Visiting family in a more populous place than the mountain where Iโ€™ve been living for the last year or so โ€“ and between the ambient light and the cloud-cover/rain of the last few days, no good views. : (

  13. Thatโ€™s a lovely photo, thanks.
