  • India Knight Mirrors Attitude Behind Afghan Law Legalizing Marital Rape
  • April 7, 2009 – Quote: “The defense’s claim about exactly what happened is just as much of an allegation as the alleged victim’s claim is, yet Knight rejects this truth which fosters injustice against women and girls who were raped and encourages would-be rapists to rape as long as they select the right victim at the right moment so that people like Knight will quickly champion them as falsely accused when they spin false stories.”

  1. That is one extremely well written article. It’s so valuable to have someone walk through the logical steps that so many commentaries skate over or avoid.

  2. It’s one of the advantages of having a closely-focused blog – one sees the same bullshit often enough that one can pinpoint it, highlight it and show exactly where it fails.
The downside, of course, is that one does have to wade through the same bullshit over and over and over again. Hats off to Marcella and all other bloggers who keep a close eye on the hard stuff on behalf of the rest of us.
Another tightly focused blog I adore is Orcinus, which monitors the right-wing hardliners in the US. A new blog from two ex-Quiverfull mums, No Longer Quivering, is also a fave. What other single-topic or tightly-focused blogs do others see as a must-read?

  3. April 1 Femmostroppo Reader- Tigerbeatdown for Dudes is what you are looking for. I read that one and really liked it too.

  4. I like the “Girls Read Comics – And They’re Pissed” blog you linked to the other day.
I’ve lost a post I wanted to send to a friend, perhaps it was here I found the link? It was about the “because umm…?” woman. As in the fantastic (or underwritten but hawt) woman in films and television who chooses an awful man (with whom we are supposed to identify), because umm…? It discussed Judd Apatow and Woody Allen, among others. I just can’t seem to find it again – any suggestions?

  5. Awsome, Mindy. Thanks.
