– “If becoming a mother for celebrities was supposed to be easy thanks to a cavalcade of nannies, drivers, trainers and personal chefs, I started to see some worrying changes in the culture of pregnancy outside of the confines of Hollywood.”
– “Of course, this is outrageous. Why should a woman who has been beaten by some asshole be denied health care coverage? It isn’t fair.brbrBut there’s something wrong here. And not just with this discriminatory practice — but with the people breathlessly reporting it.”
– “152 years after this case, the descendants of white Americans not only seem to be channeling the ghost of Roger B. Taney, but think we’re 3/5 of a human being.”
– “Bravo, Cara.”

– “I wonder why, if Thomas and her coworkers regard her sex as a nonissue, Drape seems so obsessed with it. I appreciate the impulse to honor a woman who is succeeding in a male-dominated field, but making her sex the focal point in an article about her career undermines Thomas’ victory in making her gender irrelevant to her job.”
– “Maybe the fact that I learned how to go on an LSD trip without LSD (after having taken it a few times) makes me a bit more accepting of the idea that the brain has the power to do almost whatever it wants in changing your perceptions. Or maybe more precisely, that the brain is your perceptions, and it doesn’t follow the straight-line Euclidean universe we might think it does.”

The 105th Down Under Feminists Carnival is up!
The JJJ Hottest 100 is getting weirder, with JJJ journalists preparing a story and then not putting it to air suggesting that the published results may not have reflected the true votes. However, it it also might be that the investigation analysed only a subset of votes. Hot 100, but why no gals or Elvis?.
