  1. Ah, Downfall Bunker Scene – the gift that keeps on giving. (wipes tears of mirth from eyes).

  2. I have to admit — I’m a little confused as to why everyone is so upset about this. I mean, I don’t really care one way or the other about the name “iSnack 2.0″ — but I don’t see why it seems to have offended so many people.
Maybe it’s just because I’m not a fan of vegemite in the first place.

    • I’m leaning with those who feel that Kraft has punk’d the news cycle. Blah 2.0 makes a modicum of sense when marketing technology, it makes no sense at all when marketing food. But announcing the stupid name has got them heaps of free publicity, hasn’t it? And by then announcing that they were open to consumer feedback and willing to change the name to one of several safe foody-name choice, they look like a corporation who really cares.

  3. You mean that the supposed outrage over the name is all just something built up by the media too? I mean, I see your point about it not really being a food-y type of name, but I’m having a hard time seeing why people would be upset about it, as opposed to just “meh” — but yeah, if Kraft is actually the one promoting the story that people are upset, then that makes more sense.

    • I don’t know that the outrage was necessarily confected. I think they got a fairly high response to the competition on their website to suggest a name for the new snack, and when none of those names was chosen and the corporation went with something so outrageously ridiculous quite a few people were genuinely miffed. I just think that the choice of name was cynically provocative.

  4. hilarious – just the tonic for a grey cool sunday morning 🙂 do you really think its a Kraft conspiracy…they don’t seem smart enough to think that up by themselves.

  5. Yes viral marketing, somehow the two terms seem made for each other.
