Otterday! and Open Thread.

mongooseWell, mongooseeses are honorary otters, aren’t they? Please tell me they are. This baby banded mongoose is part of a litter of six at Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. Presumably not the petting zoo. Via Zooborns.

Please feel free to use this thread to natter about anything your heart desires. Is there anything great happening in your life? Anything you want to get off your chest? Reading a great book? Anything in the news that you’d like to discuss? What have you created lately? Commiserations, felicitations, temptations, contemplations, speculations?

  1. I have to reformat this computer once more because for two days I didn’t have antivirus. Yay! -_- I may just crumble and get a new computer instead. I’ve been meaning to get a new computer for a while. Maybe the Christmas season will produce fine discounts!
In a couple of hours, if all goes well, I’ll be in the cinema watching the Princess and the Frog! I’m excited.

  2. Oh, look at the sharp little claws! I agree, the petting zoo is unlikely to be a wise choice for this one.

  3. So pointy! Who’s a woojie poppet?

  4. mongeese…soo cute.
We had four Rotte mix random breed pups left in a box at the carpark at work on Wednesday. Folks saw the guy drop the box off and drive away. One part thinks that is a huge cowardly cop out and the rest of me is glad they did it here than in the middle of the snow and/or desert. So these 4 are my new foster pups till they old enough to neuter/spay and adopt out.

  5. Oh Coz, they are gorgeous. And I’m sure y’all will absolutely hate having puppies to play with over Xmas. The hardest part will be letting them go in a few weeks time, I know.
On a more sombre note, I’m so jaded by the weak outcome of the COP15 talks that I can’t even get my blogging mojo on about it.

  6. OK, because I have become very very interested in web accessibility standards and helping people learn simple ways to enhance their content presentation on the web, I’ve started up a proper webwrangling blog to supplement my existing portfolio site.
I’m testing a new plugin for accessibility. If you’d like to help me out with that, or if you’ve got any questions you’d like to ask (or something you’d like me to test), come on over to Tigtog’s Corner.

  7. An interesting radio documentary about sexuality and disability.
Jha – you can download AVG – a pretty spiffy antivirus program – for free here.

Ja, I had a small rant at the JWs this morning (if they want to restore the baeuty of god’s kingdom, they can start by printing their pamplets in recycled paper). Other than that, I’m despondent about the whole thing.

  9. Coz, thank you, thank you, thank you. Why? Well no. 1 of course for rescuing those puppies (and evidently being a sensible person who understands they have needs and aren’t just cutesy wutesy things.) BUT! also. I am the doting owner of a rottie cross who I aquired when she was a year old, and it’s always been my regret that I never knew her as a little puppy.
Now I can see something like what she would have looked like – and those ears are exactly the same (mine’s got the lovely goofy Rottie grin with soft, soft Border Collie ears.)
May they have a great life.
    Here’s my part-Rottie goodness

  10. Heh. Someone got in a snit (totally justified) about Simon Cowell’s amateurs hogging the Xmas pop charts in the UK, and set up a Facebook group to make sure it didn’t happen again this year.
It worked. (Although I’m sad our Tim Minchin didn’t get the nod)
