When someone on Facebook shares a link to The Avengers 1965 series intro, why wouldn’t I pass it on here? Although I ended up watching some variations and picking my favourite – a typical title sequence for Series 4 that also includes the closing titles.
The chessboard intro, source of many a classic John Steed/Emma Peel promo shot, was specially filmed for the American market.

Oh, to die for, to die for!
They were so *stylish*, weren’t they? The earlier series Avenger’s credits were a bit of a mush of action-things, and the later series credits got a bit too high-camp. But these were brill.
