Shameless plug for the Humble eBook Bundle – DRM free, proceeds direct to authors

Pay what you want and help charity, too.

Thirteen works of literary genius. Humble eBook Bundle features thirteen masterful works from a prodigious league of award-winning authors and artists. Name your price and receive Pirate Cinema, Pump Six and Other Stories, Zoo City, Invasion: The Secret World Chronicle, Stranger Things Happen, and Magic for Beginners. Customers who beat the average price will also get Old Man’s War, comic collections Attack of the Bacon Robots, Epic Legends of the Magic Sword Kings, Save Yourself, Mammal!, The Most Dangerous Game, xkcd: volume 0, and graphic novel Signal to Noise!

Pay what you want. Separately, this collection of fantastic novels and comics would cost around $157. But we’re letting you set the price!

Originally the bundle was 8 books, they’ve just added 5 more. (If you’ve already paid and downloaded, just go and download again to get the extra books – they should have sent you an email, anyway.)

  1. Yes! This! It is awesome.
It is awesome that, for the original bundle (the six ebooks you get if you do NOT pay more than the average), half of the books are by women.
(All of the additional books are by men, though, which means that now they are up to 13, the proportion of books by women is much less than half.)
Also, just as a note, two of the graphic novels are Penny Arcade publications. Shakesville has a number of posts about Penny Arcade, which, as an organisation, has a bad history in relation to rape apologia. I’m noting it here in case it is the kind of thing which affects anyone’s reading preferences. (NB: you can get the Humble Bundle and simply not download those publications, which is what I have done.)

  2. Yes, I haven’t downloaded the Penny Arcade books either. I may decide to do so sometime in the future (not everything they do is obstreperating), but right now I’m not planning to.

  3. Thanks for posting this. Although I see humble bundles for games all the time I totally missed this – it’s really good value!
