One of the most exuberant and elaborate flashmobs I have ever seen, done by the side of a frozen river, to the tune of Puttin’ on the Ritz:
Hundreds of dancers joined together in Moscow on 26.02.2012 to perform together a great flashmob of “Puttin’ on the Ritz”, a popular song written and published in 1929 by Irving Berlin, and introduced by Harry Richman in the musical film Puttin’ on the Ritz (1930). The title derives from the slang expression “putting on the Ritz” meaning to dress very fashionably. The expression was inspired by the swanky Ritz Hotel.
Other versions of this video claim that it was all done to surprise the bride & groom who show up about halfway through, although in that case I wonder how they appeared to know the dance at the end. Perhaps they just thought their friends were planning something much, much smaller for the wedding reception?
Sometimes we all just need to see teh awesome so we can chillax. Please share your favourite links in comments … anything that has recently surprised, delighted, intrigued or otherwise positively engaged you: think of these threads as a brain-bleach repository.
n.b. If you want to share something less uplifting, please take it to either a Media Circus thread or the weekly Open Thread.

“Putting on the Ritz” made me smile and tear up a little. What fun!

That Baby yoga instructor is brilliant, Arcadia!
As for ‘Putting on the Ritz’, I first saw (and loved) this a few months ago and alerted some friends at the time – great to see it again! Has to be the best flashmob video around at the moment. Apart from the title dig at Putin, there’s also a few subtle political sendups too, like the sinister man with mobile at 1:58 (innocent observer or what??) and the dancing Spetsnaz soldiers.
Here’s my contribution, which came in my email tody. Gorgeous table-turning sendup of BandAid. Enjoy.
Batman hates Bronies.
Good flash mobs always make me cry.
