Looks like I need better minions

NONE of you informed me that Christopher Eccleston was going to be the villain (Malekith the Accursed) in Thor 2.

Christopher Eccleston stands in front of an original Marvel Comics illustration of Malekith the Accursed.

Christopher Eccleston at the announcement in August 2012 (how did you all miss it?)

You’re all sacked.

  1. We thought you knew?

    • Pah! eny fule kno there has been a dearth – a dearth I tell you – of Eccleston blogging here of late. Would this have been the case had I known?
      The prosecution rests, m’lud.

      • P.S. Do I want to know about the doubtless already formidable trove of Hiddleston/Eccleston-Loki/Malekith slash that has been produced over the last year?

  2. Like Megpie, I thought you knew. I apologize for my terrible minioning. May I make it up to you with this poster of Sif?

  3. As to the slash, I haven’t been looking for it, so I couldn’t tell you. But I’m sure it’s out there. Or if it wasn’t, it is now!

  4. I haven’t made it to the Thor bandwagon yet, but going by the amount of Tom Hiddleston as Loki stuff turning up on my tumblr feed I really should. Especially since I just heard that Christopher Eccleston is playing a villan in Thor 2. *phew think I got away with that*
Hiddleston as a brunette is more my style than blond Thor though. Although I have to admit that if Travis Fimmel (of Vikings on FTA TV) turned up and couldn’t bear to live without me I might have to make an exception. Especially is he bought his brother (in the series) with him. Now excuse me while I scold myself *haven’t I got work to do!* and go and stand in the cold rain for a bit.

  5. *if* he brought his brother with him. This one.

    • For some reason, this thread inspired me to look in on the Hawkeye Initiative tumblr. It’s been a while, but I do love infeasibly contorted Hawkeye so.

      • Oh dear, I’ve gone beyond geekery into nerdery now: The Avengers: Hawkeye, World’s Worst Archer?

I could go on and on; every new teaser poster shows a worse example of bad archery. But there’s no point. It’s obviously important to the filmmakers that the fantastic elements look totally believable, but they don’t care in the slightest about making the ordinary real-life elements accurate at all. If the soldiers in the battle scene were dressed as Royal Canadian Mounties and carrying their rifles upside-down, it would be as accurate as Hawkeye’s archery.

The same author has posts on the archery in Brave and Hunger Games, which he rates more highly.

  6. You are all very, very naughty Hoydens, and I am totally not going off to Google for Loki/Malekith slash now…

  7. If I’m a fired minion, do I get back pay, and can you write me a refernce to go work for the US government?

  8. Tigtog, don’t you remember when I posted that link exactly a year ago?

    • I thought I’d seen it before, but that time around I only actually read GeekDad’s articles on Brave and Hunger Games. Interesting that it’s such a high result when googling images of Hawkeye now, alongside all the images from the Hawkeye Initiative. I think that means Google’s algorithms are working impressively well.

  9. I plead my minioning being controlled by the kittehs.

  10. So while we’re playing in the Marvel universe, who else has high hopes for the SHIELD series which premieres tonight? I hope Joss Whedon’s involvement means good things.

    • Thanks for the reminder, Rayedish! I’ve just hit the R button so I can fast forward through the ads later. Seven is *really* pushing the ads.

  11. You’re welcome tigtog, just doing my bit to be a better minion.
