Here is the full list of critters seen by us over the last two days away from Sydney heading from the coast at Newcastle up into the Pokolbin area of the Hunter Valley.
Avian:
crows
gulls

cormorants
small hawks/falcons

kookaburras
wedgetailed eagles
ducks demanding food outside our door
magpies trying to steal the ducks’ food we ended up giving them
fairy wrens coming to scavenge the crumbs left by the ducks
other ducks minding their own business on the dams
coots
marsh hens
egrets
herons
stilts
willy wagtails
fairy wrens flitting about mountain roads
galahs
eastern rosellas
some sort of green forest finch
magpie larks
more small hawks/falcons
peacocks (as we passed the Hunter Valley Zoo)
Mammals – wild:
sugar glider
kangaroos
wallabies
rabbits
Mammals – farm and town:
cows – Angus, Hereford, Brahmin cross
goats
dogs – kelpies, border collies, golden retrievers, Great Danes
Insects:
butterflies
hundreds of bush flies
They’ve all been enjoying the rain.
