  People who make lazy/nasty rape jokes just for shock value are self-entitled insensitive jerks, it is right and proper to call them out for being self-entitled insensitive jerks, it does not infringe upon their right of expression or freedom of speech to call them self-entitled insensitive jerks. People being self-entitled insensitive jerks about rape IS rape culture.

  This video was published by the Richard Dawkins Foundation in June this year. The original kit was published as Chapter 12: The Fine Art of Baloney Detection in Carl Sagan’s book The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark (ISBN 0-394-53512-X / ISBN 0-345-40946-9).

  I received this as a forwarded email, so I’m keeping personal details unpublished but will pass the email details of anyone genuinely interested along to the original author, who has to move overseas and cannot take them along. Cookie and Coco are just 3 years old and deeply attached to each other, so they desperately want to place them together. They are also accustomed to small children.

• Virtual Travelling: Halloween mosaic

  OK, this is almost certainly the last Halloween post for the year – not bad for a country where it’s not meant to be that big of a deal! I just really enjoy the creativity that Halloween inspires in some people, particularly the jack-o-lantern carvers (sure, computer-based patterns for carving have simplified the craft, but it’s still a lot of work).
